Breathless

The significance of this first film by Jean-Luc Godard for the history of cinema cannot be overestimated. It became a milestone not only in his life, but also opened an entire era for the entire world cinema. As the critic summarized, the film paved the way for a freer, more individualistic approach to cinema. A completely ordinary plot of a police story becomes an expression of the problems and moods of the time. The spirit of rebellion expressed in the image of the main character of the film turned out very well thanks to the performance of the young Jean-Paul Belmondo. The film won a prize for directing at a festival in West Berlin in 1960. A seminal film of the New Wave, Godard's undisputed masterpiece France, 1959
